TAKING NO STONE THEATRE ON A DIGITAL TOUR OF THEIR PLAY TURNED PODCAST

When covid 19 shut down every play, production and show across the nation, we helped No Stone Theatre go on a digital tour to release their play turned podcast, Seeds.

Leveraging Facebook’s Watch Party functionality, we created live listen-alongs to galvanise a community of theatre lovers desperate to put some drama back in their lives to enjoy an evening at the theatre - even if it was from the comfort of their own homes.

Seeds is a podcast based on the incredible true story of the world’s first seed bank. Established in St Petersburg in 1921 by Nikolai Vavilov, it contained vital samples of crops and plants from all over the world to guard against famine and preserve the future of biodiversity.

TALE OF TWO TIMELINES

Due to the global pandemic, the historical story of sacrifice from a team of scientists in the name of food scarcity and biodiversity, is more relevant now than ever before. And as such, it’s told in two timelines - one set during the siege itself, and the second set today, as the Coronavirus pandemic takes hold of the city. The timelines weave together to examine our ability to sacrifice our present to preserve our future, and how we remember our past to make sense of who we have become.

The digital tour was hosted by independent and headline theatre companies from around the UK, maximising the reach of the podcast by engaging a diverse audience of theatre lovers across the country.

And with each venue organically posting a ticket to their feed, inviting all of their followers to a night of digital drama, the popularity of Seeds podcast quickly blew up!

Teasers for every episode

Alongside creating teasers for each episode to keep our fans excited about the upcoming story, we also created assets promoting interviews with key ecological figures from across the nation. We even hosted after parties with Seeds director Nick Pitt and producer Johanna Taylor to engage with listeners throughout the release of the podcast.
