CHLOE FOY - WITHOUT YOU
My first video commission, working with Chloe and her deep meaningful song writing as a emotional space to explore through innovative videography.
Here I developed a ‘through the keyhole’ approach to take the viewer on a journey through a journey of time and memory. I shot the footage throughout Gloucestershire where Chloe grew up as a way to bring a resonant provenance to this very vunerable song about the loss of her father.
The video, which was directed by Will Thomas, is refreshingly inventive, creating windows into other scenes, almost like Lewis Caroll’s ‘Through the Looking-Glass’. It accentuates the feeling of looking through someone’s memories, or in this instance possibly escape from control…
“In the video for Without You I had the opportunity to work with my super talented friend Will Thomas and head back to where I grew up in Gloucestershire to film. I wasn’t sure how to portray the subject of the song as it’s very personal but Will has achieved a sense and feeling of nostalgia and something that is up for interpretation, which I think is the way it should be.”

How do you shoot a video on the iconic Camden canal when you don’t have budget for an expensive permit. Well you shoot it all from private (floating) property. This project was creative challenge of capturing an entire music video while aboard a travelling boat. Utilising whip pans, a lot of balance and a charm offensive to reassure a musician who couldn’t actually swim, we made this beautiful soulful trip through North London a reality.

A song I wrote for my band SUSAN as a post pandemic memorandum of the diabolical behaviour of the Conservative Party during the Covid 19 Lockdown. Many Bojo’s rampaging through London in pursuit of the cheese and wine they so desperately desired at the expense of everything else.
